0% balance transfer credit cards?
December 9, 2008 - Have any of you found a 0% balance transfer credit card with an introductory rate of 15 months? We just had to pay a huge amount of money for the IRS and would like to transfer the bill to a 0% card. We have a plan in place to pay it in 12 mths but would love the extra 3 mths as an emergency plan.
don't want to keep transferring as our credit is excellent so don't want to ruin it by continuing to transfer balances but thanks.
- I get offers in the mail all the time, but yes there are probably hundreds of such cards (not so much the card but they want to get your business with an initial offer of 0%). Check your existing credit cards transfer rates and keep an eye on your junk mail.
- Look at the fine print. Most of the 0% balance transfers charge a transaction fee (3% of the total amount transferred up to a certain maximum). Check out Chase. Also, if you have a good credit history, call your current credit card company to negotiate the additional 3 months.
- Yes, you can use credit cards. http://cards.yoll.net - try this one. I personally use it. I don't know exactly if they provide 12 months or 15 months. But intro rate is zero.
- Keep transferring!
